With Solaire, her new album released last February, Yael Naim offers much more than a return: a rebirth. Four years after Night Songs, a nocturnal and introspective record, the artist chooses light. The title sounds like a statement of intent, almost a manifesto. That of a woman who moves forward, no longer afraid of her power or of her shadowy areas.

Her musical universe has shifted. Long associated with a delicate, introspective folk style, Yaël Naïm now explores more electronic, more pop, and more soul-infused territories. The machines breathe, the synthesizers pulse, yet never erase the organic breath that runs through her voice. Solaire is an album of the body as much as of emotion: sensual, instinctive, deeply alive.

Here we discover a multifaceted artist who whispers, sings, dares, and asserts herself. Solaire tells the story of learning freedom: no longer apologising for taking action, accepting imperfection, and making peace with one’s own light. Musically chiselled, nourished by contemporary influences such as James Blake and Sampha, the album marks a new balance between melancholy and euphoria.

A complete artist—musician, director, visual artist—Yael Naim has always pursued a free, committed, and cross-disciplinary body of work. Revealed to the world with New Soul and awarded three Victoires de la Musique, she has never stopped exploring, creating against the current, and letting the intimate converse with the universal.
