A new jewel of the American jazz scene! With his sensual baritone voice and a vibrant, modern spiritual jazz tinged with Caribbean rhythms, Tyreek McDole is one of the most captivating revelations of the moment.
At just twenty-five years old, Tyreek McDole is emerging as one of the leading jazz singers of an effervescent New York scene. Originally from Florida, the Haitian-American singer brilliantly won, in 2023, one of the most eagerly awaited events in jazz: the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition. Yet it was back in 2018 that the young artist first made his mark in New York by winning the prize for Best Vocalist at the prestigious national “Essentially Ellington” competition, under the admiring eye of the celebrated trumpeter Wynton Marsalis.
What followed was an impressive list of encounters and shared stages, enabling him to develop his talent. Between Caribbean heritage and New York influences, Tyreek McDole sings as naturally as he breathes. His baritone voice, which recalls Gregory Porter, Andy Bey, and Johnny Hartman, conveys a remarkable gentleness, calm, and maturity. In June 2025, he released his stunning debut album, “Open Up Your Senses”, built around original compositions and ballads. Among the artists who influence him, he cites Dizzy Gillespie and Pharoah Sanders, whose spiritual approach he deeply admires.
There is no point in looking for any trace of arrogance in this young singer. Tyreek McDole is not seeking to model himself on anyone or to construct a persona; humility is his hallmark. At a time when the contemporary jazz world sometimes seeks reinvention through excess or experimentation, Tyreek McDole is thinking differently. He moves forward at his own pace, faithful to his convictions. For him, the world of jazz is an endless exploration, an aesthetic through which to understand oneself and engage with what is essential.
