Beyond its tremendous public success and an aesthetic that has marked generations, Weather Report’s music reveals an impressive richness, dominated by two exceptional composers, Wayne Shorter and Joe Zawinul, later joined by the meteoric bassist Jaco Pastorius. “The Weather Acoustic”, bringing together Samy Thiébault and Emilie Aridon-Kociołek, revisits the iconic compositions of this legendary group in an intimate and entirely acoustic format, transforming them in order to better reveal their richness and timeless character.
Each of the pieces revisited here is presented as a suite in which, alongside these melodies deeply rooted in the collective unconscious, variations, extrapolations, and other reflections imagined by Samy Thiébault coexist.
This reveals a new facet of this singular artist, more inward-looking and closer than ever to the saxophone, in an unprecedented acoustic context that places him face to face with a musician of the highest calibre: Emilie Aridon-Kociolek, a student of Michel Béroff, Claire Désert, and Bertrand Chamayou, an outstanding classical pianist and also a specialist in tango. Boldness, freedom, and resolutely contemporary energy: the two musicians engage in dialogue through an acoustic formula that is intimate, powerful, and timeless.
