A true journey through a life, memories and stories—in Limoges, his home city, but also across France and the world. It is also a way of paying tribute to his parents, who introduced him at a very early age to jazz in all its forms. Laurent Bourdelas is a historian, poet, writer and photographer. He has contributed to various journals and media outlets. His photographs have been published since 1982, often as visual journeys accompanied by texts by writers (Le Chant d’Oradour at the Palais du Luxembourg in 2007). He is the author of around fifty books published by various publishers and often praised by critics (France Culture, Le Monde, France Télévision, Le Nouvel Obs, etc.). L’Ivresse des rimes, edited by Philippe Claudel and published by Stock, received the 2012 Prix Jean Carmet. In 2025, as a jazz and blues enthusiast, he attended the 20th Éclats d’Émail Festival in Limoges to inspire a form of writing he particularly enjoys: short narratives blending autobiography, places, history and music, as he had done with Mémoires d’un garçon des années 1960, published by Les Moissons (2025). These stories no doubt also owe something to Boris Vian, Julio Cortázar, Scott Fitzgerald, Toni Morrison and many others. Vincent Mondy is unquestionably one of the leading saxophonists and clarinetists in our region. With a perfect command of the different musical aesthetics that make up jazz and its century and a half of influences, he is the ideal partner for this unprecedented encounter.
