Benjamin Bobenrieth is somewhat on home ground here in Limousin. After recording two magnificent albums for the LABORIE Jazz label (Travels in 2018 and Nahia’s Soul in 2022), he is also well known on the Festival scene, where he has taken part several times in formations ranging from duo to quintet. He gives us the great pleasure of returning with Django Viatge, a project led with violinist Bastien Ribot—a quintet of Toulouse musicians brought together by their love of Django Reinhardt’s music, and more particularly of Django’s electric repertoire.

Using the same instrumental line-up that Django employed in the 1950s (with a piano/bass/drums rhythm section), these five musicians, endowed with extraordinary technique, reveal a rich and energetic music in which soaring violin lines and the roar of the guitar are driven and propelled by a powerful, razor-sharp rhythm section.
After saxophonist Baptiste Herbin’s appearance in 2025 with his trio Django for two splendid concerts in a highly original instrumental format, we once again discover a lesser-known facet of this legendary artist, whose musical voice and compositions remain as relevant as ever.

Line-up :
Benjamin Bobenrieth – guitar
Bastien Ribot – violin
Grégoire Aguilar – piano
Rémi Bouyssière – double bass
Guillaume Prevost – drums
