Building on the initiative launched during the 19th Edition of the Festival in 2024 and the success of David KRAKAUER’s Masterclass, the teams of Un Vent de Passion, Selmer, Pearl, and the Éclats d’Émail Jazz Edition Association are proud to present three new Masterclasses this year, led by flutist Ludivine Issambourg and saxophonists Pierrick Pédron and Baptiste Herbin.

Nicolas Granelet takes up piano and composition in private lessons and begins to build his own musical world from adolescence by joining or creating various groups (Aryos, Passage, Sugar Mama). With Les Scories, he wins the young talent springboard of the 2004 Sédières Festival. Curious and passionate, he joins the conservatory in order to attend a classical piano curriculum with Faridhe Ostovar and Yann Zarzelli. He also follows Eric Durand’s writing courses, then studies harmony, composition and orchestration with English composer Roger Steptoe. During that period, he composes a number of pieces for solo piano and small chamber ensembles. That journey leads him to jazz and improvised musics where he discovers new musical and artistic horizons. He then joins the jazz curriculum at the conservatory with Thierry Chèze and, with pianist Lionel Melot, he works on jazz and improvisation. He follows various master classes notably with Kenny Barron, Kenny Garret, Franck Avitabile or Andy Elmer. Fascinated by the relationship between music and picture, he joins, as composer and pianist, the Acrylic Painting Orchestra, a sextet with performing painter Reg Alcorn, creates Origins Group (piano, African percussions, Baschet Crystal) and writes several image-based musical synchronizations (Cannes festival short film selection, Finalist of the UMJ contest, Finalist of the Audi Awards). Always with a desire to decompartmentalize styles and asserting himself in a “progressive” movement, he creates various projects such as the Mental Medication quintet with which he gets the UMJ Prize at the Saint Germain des Prés Jazz Festival in 2016) then the ZadZa trio (Album Couleur Jazz 2017 selection by the eponymous magazine). Since 2020, he has taken a major artistic turn by emphasizing the work of the texture and follows the path of minimalist music. His new project, Ollen, is thus born with two albums. In the same dynamic, he brings C-LY back together as a quartet, a neoclassical trip-hop ensemble, and starts a duo collaboration with Lebanese artist Abaji on the recording of two albums under Absilone. He is the holder of a French State Diploma in classical piano (CESMD of Poitiers), of a music therapy diploma from the Paris International Center for Music Therapy) and he currently teaches at the CRD of Tulle.
