« Nina ». Nina Simone, a great lady of jazz and the American society, used to rock her daughter to sleep with a lullaby. But that night, Lisa couldn’t fall asleep. So Nina told her a story, her own story…
Here is a show, combining music and drawing with the ultimate goal of creating meaning. Silvia Ribeiro Ferreira, the author, composer and performer, invites you on a journey into your inner self. Your ears will be guided by the power of Silvia’s saxophone and your eyes charmed by illustrator Bruno Liance’s charcoal that will bring life to the music in drawing.
Working mainly in dark tones in a relationship to light around the concept of chiaroscuro, of white and black, the illustrator structures his work, its skeleton, to give it the right balance. Each tone equals a line, just as each line equals a tone, creating his own calligraphy of music, his own acoustic score. Bruno Liance, illustrator, draws rhythmically, listening to the music. A visual and acoustic interaction, an extension of the sounds into space and time. The drawing can be seen, watched, admired. The music can be heard, listened to and experienced.
