The story of the collaboration between the Centre Dramatique National – Théatre de l’Union and our Festival has over the years allowed the appearance of French or international artists who did all but left us indifferent, so strong were their sensitivity and their communion with the public. Uriel Herman, Itamar Borochov, Lars Danielsson, Nasheet Waits, Paul Lay, … all concerts that pertain to the atmosphere of this venue, of this relationship.
It is time for Lea Maria Fries to belong to those invitations. A Swiss German singer, conductor, composer and lyricist influenced by Jazz, pop, rock, electro, African American music, Lea Maria Fries is driven by the freedom of improvisation and is now recognized as a both bold and unique voice. With “Cléo”, her new album released last April, Lea Maria Fries pushes one more time the boundaries of vocal jazz. True to her instinctive approach, she composes a music where the voice becomes a modular instrument, free from any constraint, accompanied by finely crafted texts, impregnated with a great sensitivity and confirming her status as a major artist of the current jazz scene. A must-see …
