Look out ! Phenomenon ahead and musical trend in full revival, Blues.

Within a year, and at only 26, singer and guitarist D.K.Harrell has gone from being a promising blues artist to being the most sought-after musician in the world of blues. His first album, “The Right Man on Little Village”, immediately earned rave reviews all around the world upon its release in June 2023 and became the second blues album most played on American radios in 2023. In 2024, he was awarded the title of best emergent artist during the prestigious ceremony of the “Blues Music Awards” organized by the Blues Foundation based in Memphis.

Harrell, 26, is a self-taught guitar player from Ruston, a rural community in the north of Louisiana. He got first interested in blues at the age of 8 after watching the Cadillac Records movie, inspired by Little Walter’s harmonica sounds. But after learning the harmonica, Harrell switched to the guitar at age 13, exploring blues from many different angles until he discovered B. B. King. From then, he devoted himself to blues and watched all the videos and archives about B. B. King he could put his hand on. He grasped the subtleties and dynamics of B. B. King’s music that other people often neglect. And, just as important, he was able to capitalize on the impalpable qualities that made King the king of blues.

He made a highly visible entry on the blues scene and his impassioned concerts reflect his love for blues, his songs exude a joy that is passed on to the audience. It is this connection that is now building up his legacy. “I love playing music for people and watching them sharing that experience”, Harrell says. “I’ve always said that music was my voice.

On stage, D. K. Harrell gives off a confounding authority on vocals and guitar: placement, pace, power control, coolness, he naturally masters everything, which tells a lot about his work and his talent. One thinks of a new B. B. KING, young in today’s world, who integrates in his intrinsic blues the modernity of funk and of sound techniques while remaining anchored in tradition. An exceptional concert at the Opera House with an exceptional artist … just the way we like it.
