Long evenings spent in the black-and-white darkroom never discouraged him, and every photograph was a reward in itself.<br \/>\nHe quickly moved on to 24&#215;36 format and more modern cameras. Digital photography did not change his habits: the tool changes, not the photographer\u2019s eye or personality, and in response to debates with those nostalgic for film, he transformed himself into an \u201cimage maker.\u201d<br \/>\nBy chance, life brought his path together with that of Jean-Michel Leygonie.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"277\" data-end=\"558\">A photo exhibition on Les Gueules S\u00e8ches, featured in the programme of the second edition of \u00c9clats d\u2019\u00c9mail, marked the beginning of Bernard Laz\u00e9ras\u2019s collaboration with the festival.<br \/>\nFor 20 years, he has not missed a single edition. Sometimes he has worked alongside friends who share his passion for photography, and sometimes on his own.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"277\" data-end=\"558\">The exhibition he presents to us brings together a small part of his work: both the festival\u2019s great moments and more intimate ones. A distinctive feature of his approach has been to revisit all his images in a square format and group them in sets of four\u2014a challenge that was far from guaranteed at the outset. The choice of photographs was made in collaboration with two people who are dear to him and whom he does not wish to compromise, though he will very easily reveal their names if you ask him. There is both black and white and colour; each has its own charm, and it is up to you to judge.<br \/>\nIn jazz there is movement; it moves and pulses, and he wanted to translate that motion into some of his images. Yet nothing is left to chance, and it requires a certain degree of technical mastery.<br \/>\nFor him, you have to be in the right place at the right time, have a little personality, and above all a lot of luck. Talent is another story\u2014and only you can judge that.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"277\" data-end=\"558\">Bernard Laz\u00e9ras has always been a little against the current. That is why he chose to have his images printed on canvas. He was won over by the painterly quality of the medium, without in any way abandoning the black and white of his early days. From her first solo exhibitions at Galerie ROFFO in Cannes to the many events and galleries where she has been invited to show her work, she draws inspiration from the places she loves: the Limousin, Bordeaux and, most often, the French Riviera, as well as Italy from Naples to Agrigento, Morocco from Marrakesh to Tangier, and Paris.<br \/>\nHer work also features many seascapes, reflecting emotions inspired by the surrounding environment.<br \/>\nHer practice evolves over time between figurative and abstract art, color and grisaille, using white canvas, mounted canvas, reclaimed cardboard, antique paper and paper pulp.<br \/>\nShe is also deeply inspired by music and musicians and has created a number of paintings and works on paper pulp exploring opera, classical music and jazz.<\/p>\n<p>This led her to use glass as a medium: initially, she used the reverse-glass painting technique across the entire surface, combining acrylic, oil pastels, gold powder and metallic paint. Today, they are also content creators, and their Instagram account, @voyageursfrancais, has more than 150,000 followers.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2022, she has supported the \u00c9clats d\u2019\u00c9mail Jazz Edition Festival team with the festival\u2019s communications. This introduced her to a field that was new to her: concert photography.
