In the world of Rouge, three pigments are enough to destabilize the known colours and take us into a chromatic odyssey. Surrounded by Sylvain Didou (double bass) and Boris Louvet (drums), pianist Madeleine Cazenave unfolds her sonic palette without ever getting tangled up.
There is something of Satie, of Ravel, in the classical and symbolistic tones and, at the other end of the spectrum, Tigran Hamasyan’s , E.S.T.’s or Gogo Penguin’s chaudfroid tones. One of the great achievements of the Rouge trio is their unique way of weaving a melodic mesh in which they string bass lines and capture the percussive sleet. From Madeleine Cazenave’s compositions, the three alchemists of Rouge work together until they reach perfection in a collective vibration.
With an apparent simplicity, the musicians create the conditions of a meditative and hypnotic immersion, so as to take us to the heart of the mystery: we happily dive into the black velvet of Abysses and the rock melancholy of Brumaire, including the jubilatory pleasure of Etincelles.
