Those who attended in 2011 and 2018 remember two legendary concerts at the Opéra de Limoges. Ron Carter, like Charles Mingus, is one of the few double-bass players that one might recognize by the sound. He has been involved in over 2,200 recordings, he has performed alongside Eric Dolphy, Thelonious Monk, Cannonball Adderley, Miles Davis and Joe Henderson among others. A musician with a rich playing full of roundness, he associates to his art the talented Donald Vega, Donald Harrisson and Payton Crossley to form this quartet which combines finesse and elegance, a peaceful strength. An icon and prizewinner of several Grammy Awards, the maestro has been referred to as one of the « 10 greatest bassists of all times » by Rolling Stone magazine. Ron Carter celebrated his birthday on May 10, 2022 at the Carnegie Hall in New York, with a unique concert « For The Love of Ron » and he continues this celebration of his 85th birthday, and remembering his previous whirlwind concerts at the Opera. The Eclats D’Email Jazz Edition Festival once more welcomes Monsieur Ron Carter with profound respect and an unlimited happiness.
