A pianist from southern France, Oscar Teruel settled in Paris in 2022. Influenced in particular by the current New York art scene, and shortly after his arrival, he formed with double bassist Anthony Jouravsky and drummer Jules Wallemme, a trio with an asserted personality. Through Oscar Teruel’s compositions the band offers an energetic, raw music ensuring a constant interaction between the three musicians. Together, they explore the various ideas offered by the compositions and the present moment, ideas around which they enjoy dialoguing, with a freedom reminiscent of Gerald Clayton’s or Jason Moran’s trios. The band tries to escape the instrumental and sound limits that trio formation can impose, combining lyricism and improvisation.
