Long before performing on the best stages in the world alongside with international artists, Ludovic Louis started his career as a trumpeter in a family mad about music. Having been lulled by his grandfather, a violinist in his spare time, and a dad awakening him to various musical colors, the child from Le Havre enrolled in jazz studies. First at the JUPO alongside Alain Loisel, then at the music school with Sylvain Maillard, where he got his degree in classical trumpet in 2000.
When he settled in Paris in 2003, he began to collaborate with other artists such as Orishas, Jimmy Cliff, Florent Pagny or more recently with Slimane or Christophe Maé. And later in 2009 he got to meet Lenny Kravitz. That meeting was followed by some ten years of collaboration throughout the world, during which the rock star did not hesitate to offer his public Ludovic’s talent through his improvised solo performances.
From the biggest stadiums to the most specialized festivals, such as Rock in Rio, Lollapalooza, the Montreux Jazz Festival, and many others, the trumpeter is there to electrify the crowd just a little bit more thanks to his incredible solos. Besides, he was offered in 2012 to renew the experiment in playing a solo for two icons, Muhammad Ali and Quincy Jones, during the “Black and White America Tour” in Las Vegas.
Settling in Los Angeles in 2013, the French artist worked on a series of projects with, among other renowned artists, Kanye West and his Sunday Service, Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, The Black Eyed Peas and The Meters.
In parallel to that and all along his career, Ludovic has been involved as a musician in various television programmes like The Grammys, The Voice, American Idol, or even the Jimmy Fallon Show. In 2020 Ludovic Louis was presented with a new opportunity and under the direction of Damien Chazelle he debuted as an actor in “The Eddy”. In this Netflix series, the artist plays the character of Ludo, a Jazz Club trumpeter.
