Born in Lyon in 1984 of Polish descent, Caroline Burgala developed a passion for the violin as young as 7 years old.
She won a gold medal in Lyon as well as the first prize of the Concours National with distinction. Then she went on studying the classical violin at the Lyon Conservatoire National de Région which she brilliantly left with a gold medal at the age of 17. She then met violinist Maxime Vengerov and gave master classes at the Lyon conservatoire.
From 2003 to 2005 she was a student of Didier Lockwood with whom she sometimes collaborated while following Gilles Apap’s master classes.
Her thirst of discovery allowed her to meet wonderful musicians and to experiment a multitude of encounters. Improvisation is her passion.
She could thus be seen on stage and in-studio along with Caroline Casadesus, Didier Lockwood, Fred Manoukian, Gilles Apap, Romane, Guy Marchand, Juan De Lerida, Laurent Gerra, Denis Guivarch, Diego Imbert, Stochelo Rosenberg, Stéphane Wrembel, etc… as well as in various international festivals like “Les Violons Croisés” conducted by Didier Lockwood, “The Dubai International Festival”, The Darc Festival” as the opening act for Matmatah, and in Laos, Spain, Italy, Montreal, Copenhagen, etc…
Passionate about gipsy music, Caroline Burgala immerses herself in the Eastern European repertoire and also performs along with Robie Lakatos.
