Poetical, frenzied and bold. Lapsus’s music is genuine and can leave no one indifferent. Between aery melodies, sharp rhythmics and soundscapes, the trio secretes an epic jazz very much inspired by impressionist music with a very subtle sound palette. These elements have a part in the trio’s alchemy to create impetuous music which takes us into sulfurous atmospheres, both surprising and catching, and one thinks of references such as The Bad Plus (Axiome), Pink Floyd (Oniris), Nerve (Parcia), Tigran Hamasyan (Sentences), Black Midi (Litanies). A compendium of all these references, “Après la lumière” (“After the Light”) stands out for the power of its themes and offers us a very mature first record with aftertastes of fusion and progressive rock.
