French-American singer Cécile McLorin Salvant unveils her new record “Mélusine”. Five original titles, written by Cécile, as well as nine reinterpretations, among which titles by Charles Trenet, Véronique Samson, Starmania, the whole–mainly sung in French but also in Haitian Creole and in Occitan– tell the legend of Mélusine, half-woman half-snake.

Cécile McLorin Salvant is a singer and composer who brings a historical perspective, a renewed dramatic sense and a musical understanding enlightened by jazz standards and her own original compositions. Classically trained, steeped in jazz, blues and folk, and drawing from musical theatre and vaudeville, she covers a vast repertoire that widens the possibilities of live performance.

After already winning 3 Grammy Awards for her first records, she has received 2 more nominations for the same Grammy Awards for her previous album, “Ghost Song”, released in the spring of 2022 which is also on the list of the best records for 2022 established by NPR, the New York Times, Jazzwise …
